Serena Williams Reported Sexism

Serena Williams reported Sexism that the referee was harsh on him and penalized him for her being a female rather than breaking the rules. She reported she didn’t deserve the game penalty and the referee outburst was not normal.

In the loss against Naomi Osaka, She got a code violation for coaching, a penalty point for racquet abuse and a game penalty for calling the umpire a “thief”.

The head of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), which organizes the US Open, believes “There’s no equality when it comes to what the men are doing to the chair umpires and what the women are doing, and I think there are a lot of grey areas which needs to be fixed.

Umpire Carlos Ramos spotted a hand gesture from Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Serena Williams therefore, he penalized her. The Frenchman later admitted he was indeed trying to coach her.

Williams was fined $17,000 (£13,100) for the code violations that included calling Ramos a “liar” and “thief”. She earned $1.85m (£1.43m) in prize money for reaching the final.

Were there any other Players who were Penalized by the Referee?

10 women punished for code violations at this year’s US Open, while 26 men were fined. Most of the fines issued were for racquet violations – 14 men and five women.

There was more controversy in Woman’s double match!

American Coco Vandeweghe and Ashleigh Barty of Australia said they were hustled off court shortly before the man’s final, unable to deliver a victory speech after receiving their trophy.

Coco Vandeweghe was very angry at the incident, said “This incident let our enthusiasm for the victory a bit down”

This was done so that the men final between Djokovic and Del Potro could be played. The US final 2008 was won by Novak Djokovic matching Pete Sampras 14th Grand Slam wins and entering an elite club of 3 US wins in the modern era.
