Coffee Beans

The choice of coffee beans can be more of a personal preference. For example, you might prefer the fruity taste of the Kenyan coffee and ditch the classic balance brought by a Colombian coffee.

Regardless of your taste, we can all agree that certain coffee beans genuinely stand out from the rest. Without further ado, here’s our list of the best coffee beans you can find around the world:

Kona Beans from Hawaii

Let’s start the list by presenting an exquisite type of coffee beans grown at 2,000 feet above sea level on the slopes of Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanoes in Hawaii. Specifically called the Kona coffee, this type of specialty coffee is known for its rich yet light taste that comes with a complex aroma.

Due to its complicated growing conditions and exquisitely superior taste, you’ll have to pay quite an amount to get your hands on this coffee. But the price you pay is worth it as long as you get the real thing.

AA Beans from Kenya

Coffee beans derived from Kenya are known to be among the finest in the world. It is partly due to the effort that went into processing and cleaning the beans.

The AA beans are considered the best among the other coffee beans in the country, which is then followed by AB. If you happen to get your hands on this specialty coffee, you’ll surely appreciate it for its syrupy and winey acidity taste. Apart from that, it also features a fragrant aroma combined with sweet, floral tones.

Yirgacheffe Beans from Ethiopia

Grown at a higher elevation than Kona beans, Yirgacheffe coffee beans have that distinctive sweet flavor and aroma. These beans are typically grown at 5,800 to 6,600 feet above sea level.

The coffee beans feature an intense, clean flavor combined with a floral aroma and a hint of toasted coconut. A medium-dark or dark roasted Yirgacheffe coffee is perfect if you want a sweet and heavy coffee. However, if you’re going to enjoy its exceptional qualities to the fullest, you’d want to go for a medium roast instead.

Sulawesi Toraja Beans from Indonesia

Grown in Sulawesi’s highlands in Indonesia, Sulawesi Toraja coffee beans are known for their rich and expansive flavor. They have that well-balanced taste with hints of ripe fruit and dark chocolate.

If we are to compare it, it would best be described as having less body and slightly acidic taste than Sumatran coffee beans with more earthiness than your typical Java Arabica beans.

Peaberry Beans from Tanzania

Commonly grown on Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru in Tanzania, the Peaberry beans have that fruit-toned acidity with a medium body. The taste can be described as deep and rich with hints of black currant that will blend into the coffee’s sweet finish.

Compared to your typical coffee cherry, the peaberry only contains one round coffee inside, which makes it slightly denser than most coffee beans, hence allowing them to roast uniformly.

The best-tasting coffee beans are left to personal taste. Therefore, we can’t have a verdict on which is the best out of all of them. Still, this list will provide you with some really solid suggestions for your exquisite cup of joe the next time you think of brewing one.
